Date crumble

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 40 minutes
Serves: 10-12 servings


290 gr date(s)
240 ml water
50 gr sugar
185 gr butter
220 gr brown sugar
150 gr flour
1/2 teaspoon(s) of sodium bicarbonate
150 gr rolled oats


Line a pan (30x20 cm/12x8 inch) with parchment paper.
Pre-heat your oven to 180°C/360°F.

Combine the dates, water and caster sugar in a saucepan.
Cook, stirring from time to time, until the dates have absorbed all liquid.
Set aside.

Beat the butter with the brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Sift the flour and sodium bicarbonate over the butter mixture.
Stir until well combined.
Add the rolled oats and gently mix them in.

Spread out half the mixture in the pan.
Spread the date mixture over the top.
Crumble the remaining oat mixture over the dates.
Bake for 40 minutes.
